Muse Concert 19/12/10

So I went to the Muse concert last night at Steel Blue Oval in Bassendean. It was Muse's last concert of their Australian 'Resistance' Tour, and their last show for 2010. I saw Muse earlier this year when they headlined for the Big Day Out 2010, and I was stoked when they decided to come back to Australia because watching Muse perform is one of the greatest things I have experienced in my life.

Muse were supported by Biffy Clyro, a Scottish alternative band. I was pretty impressed by these guys because it's difficult enough to be a supporting band for anybody, let alone Muse. They were wearing fluro pants and no shirts (cause apparently it's pretty hot in Australia) and they played really well. Might have to buy a CD or two.

Here are some of the photos and videos I got from the concert, my camera ran out of batteries about halfway through but I still managed to get some good ones :) It was such an amazing concert, their stage presence is so good and they have the best effects (lighting, displays, giant eyeball balloons, etc)

Without further ado, here are the souvenirs I have from my camera.

The Stage

Biffy Clyro

The Crowd

The lights turned on!!

Muse!

And here is a very crappy sequence of videos from the concert. Enjoy :D

Henceforth, going to every Muse concert every time they're in the area. Would see them again and again and again...

The 100th Post

Conveniently timed the day after the new blog design was revealed and also the afternoon I got my hands on the Neverender DVD.

It's the DVD concert of Coheed and Cambria's Neverender tour (I call it a tour, there were only two shows). I would have sold my soul to go to this concert, but Ticketmaster don't take souls as payment... bastards.
It was an epic concert, filmed over four consecutive nights at their New York concert where they played every single song from their first four albums, which are...
- The Second Stage Turbine Blade
- In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3
- Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Volume 1: From Fear Through The Eyes of Madness
- Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Volume 2: No World For Tomorrow

Awesome four CDs, they're a part of the Amory Wars saga (which is also a collection of graphic novels) and the albums are concept albums that tell the story of the saga.
Wikipedia has a blurb for the Amory Wars here that sounds very cool...

The Amory Wars takes place in Heaven's Fence, a collection of 78 planets held in place by interconnecting beams of energy, known as the Keywork. The story revolves around the messianic Claudio Kilgannon, son of Coheed Kilgannon and Cambria Kilgannon. Over the course of the story, Claudio assumes the mantle of The Crowing, foretold savior of Heaven's Fence. In the end, he must face the "Supreme Tri-mage" Wilhelm Ryan, absolute ruler of Heaven's Fence and the one ultimately responsible for the death of Claudio's family.

Sounds intriguing, does it not? I haven't read the books (yet) but I'll get my hands on them one day. When I actually have some moneys.
So this is a great DVD, epic in every sense of the word and I would definitely recommend watching it if you'd like to get a taste of Co&Ca (if you've got five or so hours to kill, that is...). I love the band, they're talented and prodigious and I'm proud to have them feature in my 100th Post.
Henceforth, we shall continue this blog past the 100-post mark, to infinity and... I can't finish that phrase because it's probably copyright. :D

Legendary

Sorry for blogging so many times today but I have been rummaging around youtube and found this kid....

He's playing Avenged Sevenfold, All That Remains and Something Corporate on the piano.
That's not the amazing part.
Wanna guess what the amazing part is?

.... he's in church.
:D
Henceforth GOD APPROVETH OF GOOD MUSICS!
I think one of his watchers suggested playing a hymn by Lamb of God.... sounds like a good idea...

Alestorm

Scottish Pirate-themed hardcore musicians. What more could you ask for?
Pretty much the equivalent of Amon Amarth, but these guys are pirates, not vikings.
Yeah, pirates.

Henceforth, nothing. This is just fricken awesome.

Slappin da Bass :D

Okay, so it mightn't be their best song, but it's pretty epic anyway. Rockband kinda ruined this for me...
but that's not the point.
It'll make you cry with joy. :D
Henceforth, Imma learn how to slappa da bass... properly.

The unsolved riddle.

Joe nearly got it right but he went with logic and logic failed him.
The answer was C) girl singer and girl screamer.
I find joy in educating you people.

Edit: I don't know why you were so offended by the lack of henceforth. but I appease you.

Henceforth! bitches...

A riddle for you, sir!

Alright. So, here's a question for you.
Listen to this song. It might not be your fancy, but for the sake of an argument and some educational purposes, please listen.
A question awaits after this video, and please DON'T GOOGLE or I will call you a cheater.
Unless of course you have heard of this band (IWRESTLEDABEARONCE... no kidding) and therefore you can't answer the question but you can see the other people's answers. Hilarity!
Okay, so listen.

Now, riddle me this. (it's okay, it's a multiple choice)

Is this
a) a girl singer and a guy screamer
b) a guy singer and a girl screamer
c) a girl singer and a girl screamer
d) a guy singer and a guy screamer

To find out the answer, here's what you do.
First you must post what you think.
Then you google the answer. But don't give it away. ^_^

Btw, this is a pointless post. I just thought I'd annoy everyone in existence once again. So Henceforth, I wrestled a bear. Once...

Youtube Music Talent

Going through my Youtube faves when I came across some of the usual brilliant talent that you find on youtube.
Some of it is impressive, some is interesting and some is just plain hilarious. Hah!
So watch and enjoy. Personally I love violins, should save and buy one of those too. :D

especially love that saxaphone guy... he's a genius! not to mention he also loves mayday parade. :D

so enjoy and be inspired.
Henceforth Imma save up and learn another instrument... I don't really think ocarina counts...

Say hello...

To the mighty RANDALL!!

:D :D

he is mine, all mine.
and he's fat and loud.
perfection!!

significantly bigger/louder/better than my old one.
my neighbors are going to hate me even more but it's alright because I make up for it with epicness....
or something.

Henceforth, you shall bow down to my mighty bass amp !!! mwahaha

New Amp

Haven't got it yet but I've bought it.
Second hand, of course. I'm not that rich...
75w 15'' Randall bass amp.
worth $600, got it for $150.
guy clearly has no idea about moneys and I'm willing to take advantage of that.
And because I'm really cheap I spent this morning helping mulch the garden to take a further $50 off the price.
And then I cleaned all the cupboards in the living room for an extra $50.
So technically, I only spent $50 on a $600 amp.
Henceforth, I have a new amp.
Almost.
Soon, darling...

What should I name this one? Call it Randall?

Da Bass

Is incredibly epic and very fun to play and I wouldn't give it up for anything.
However, from never ending hours of band practice I have begun to develop callouses on my fingers. I'd just like to mention this so everyone knows how much I have sacrificed for the sake of the band, including the lovely smooth skin on my fingertips.
That said, perhaps it is a good thing. It might in the future prevent anyone from wanting to hold my hand. It's a guard against sentimentality!!
Henceforth, I'm torn on the subject. It's a good and a bad thing, but we shall persevere, for the sake of music.

Google This

They're called the Dear Hunter, alternative progressive rock I think is the technical term but I like to call it awesome. :) They're not exactly mainstream (in the least) and they have some weird music (Not as weird as the Mars Volta, but close enough) but they're pretty damn awesome.
Just thought I'd mention it.
Hope they come to Perth sometime before I die.
Henceforth, Dear Hunter are awesome.

The Band!

We were EPIC today, our debut performance...
I don't have any other pictures (not yet... I stole this from Siobhan's facebook album. ^_^) but I will get my hands on some. Anyone who has pictures, upload them to the glorious internet! I know I saw Brandon with his camera...
And the IT guys were filming it too.
:D :D :D
I am so happy
I didn't screw up! And the other guys and girls were amazing! It was definitely the best Foundation Day evarrrrrrr ^_^
Except for Sister Kettle, what a nong. Does she have to ridicule my bass skills? I thought I was doing alright...
Don't patronize me or Jesus will smite you!
And thanks muchly to Brittany for lending me her clothes (they were very comfy, too... I'm just washing them at the moment because playing bass is sweaty business.)
Thanks to her mum for letting us use her office as a store room for all our musicy junk :D
Grats to Joe, Conrad and Emerson for winning - you guys were so good ! Made me feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside
It was a great day. Hope everyone had a lot of fun :)
Until next time....
Henceforth: WE ARE ALL AMAZING
and all in this together...
doo doo doo la la la...
I'm so happy I could skip :D

le Ocarina!

Well, I've had this baby for a while now but this is his internet debut.
I present to you, my darling Ocarina.

This is a twelve-hole Peruvian style alto Ocarina. The first of which I hope is a collection, once I get some more money. They're also hard to find in shops, this one was bought online from the guy who makes them in Canada.
I really want a Zelda-styled Ocarina of time. And I'd like a double or triple as well. :) An army of ocarinas awaits me in the future!
I haven't named him yet, I still can't decide. Unless you didn't know, the bass is called Red Rover, and my piano is known as Sparkles. I have my reasons for this, but it's probably just insanity beneath all of my strange behavior anyway.
Say hello to my little friend!
Henceforth, I am the demigod of Ocarinas. :D

Axis of AWESOME!

This is one of my favourite comedy performances of all time. Makes me giggle so much.
Watch and learn, my friends.

Henceforth, you now know the secret to musical success. :D

Muse doing covers

Ahhhhh, I love when bands do covers. Particularly Muse. They are good at everything they cover... they are good at everything full stop.

Here's a cover of Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You

and also a cover of Back in Black by AC/DC with Nic from Jet on vocals. ^_^ yay

Henceforth shall find more covers. Punk goes Pop/Crunk is always good. Check them out.
