You know Jesus hates you when...

Your printer wakes you up before seven o'clock in the morning. Yeah, my printer. It decided to clean itself out after a long hard weekend of doing absolutely jack because it's a stupid piece of crap that likes to make my life miserable, so it decided to stretch it's hunklebunner and clean out the dordyfang. (Unless you hadn't noticed, I'm not really up to date with the internal workings of printers.)
By the way, I'm not alive. Never-ending studying has taken away my will to live. I'm not sure why we have to remember everything - in the real world, if a historian, say, had to complete an article about ancient Egypt or whatever the fritz* they talk about, would the director say something along the lines of, "Hey, mr. Historian man, you. I was just curious as to whether you could write me a report, but you can't use any books, references, talk to anyone else or even use Wikipedia. Cool? Cool, I'll see you on Monday. Click, beep, beep, your call has ended."
The director didn't say that last bit, by the way. That was the phone...
I don't get why we aren't allowed to use sources in our exams. It's stupid, nobody works like this in the real world. They're preparing us for life in a universe that simply doesn't exist. Things just don't work this way. It's stupid and annoying and I really don't like studying.
That's my ramble for the morning, hope everyone else is having fun with study.
Henceforth, study is a waste of time. (As if it wasn't before.)

Literature class

We have officially finished the Glass Menagerie.
And I am sad. It was a play I actually liked.
Now we have to do poetry.... which is awesome :D I am one of the minority that actually enjoys poetry. Last year I did an assignment on Sylvia Plath. She stuck her head in an oven. Poetry is so underrated!
But I did so like the Glass Menagerie. It was a sad play, but it was sweet.

Religion Sucks

Usually I'm pretty calm about the whole Catholic thing... I do the church thing but I'm not really devoted to it. But frick almighty, if the Catholic Education Council doesn't keep screwing around with my course I'm going to force feed them snails and make them watch live action Disney movies! (and nobody wants that.)

I'll go back to the start.

Mr. Middleton: Hey Darcie, do 2A religion in year 12, because you get an extra 15 marks in your exam in year 12 if you do 3A.
Darcie: Wow, Mr. Middleton, that's a great idea. Thanks a bunch.

Six months later...

Mr. Middleton: Sorry kiddies, there akshully isn't a 3A course you can do. We'll have a talk about this later.

.... OHMYGODSTOPSCREWINGWITHMYBRAIN!

He explained it in detail to our class today what was going on. He can't be blamed at all really, it's entirely the Catholic Education Council's fault. What's going on is that the CEC made the course based on four modules - A, B, C and D. Easy enough. 1A/1B in year 11 is modules A and B at a stage one level, according to the Curriculum Council, and 2A/2B in year 11 is modules C and D at a stage two level. Still with me?
Now it becomes a sort of Catholic Education Council vs the Curriculum. I'm putting all money on the Curriculum...
Curriculum has figured that a 3A/3B course consists of the same modules C and D but at a stage 3 level. Well that's sensible enough. Extra fifteen marks, big whoop and all. HOWEVER, there is a problem. The CEC says that kids can only graduate if they do all four modules over two years, which means 1A and 2A courses.
So, in order to graduate, this means I'd have to drop down to 1A or 1C in year 12, but in the eyes of the Curriculum, that means that I dropped back and they will take marks off.
GOD ALMIGHTY.
We all kinda panicked about this for a while because nobody had told us anything, but now we know. We kinda chose to do 2A (or at least I did) for the extra marks in the exam next year. Very handy marks. But they messed with my brain as they always seem to do and now I'm officially, royally screwed.
Thank god Mr. Middleton has an answer, but it's not exactly a solution. He said we do the 1A course during our study period this year as well as doing 2A with the year twelves, and then we do the 2A stage 3 course next year.
Extra marks.... yay.

Arabian Nights

... was surprisingly good. Not that I'm saying I didn't enjoy any of the other productions (cough) but this one was very very naice. ^_^
Grats to everyone in the cast, very nicely done. I loved the human props, Aleisha was fantastic, the slicked back hair was very stylish indeed... :) Benjamin looked like a rockstar in his wise man wig and Emerson, the turban was turban me on...
HAH thanks to Liss for that joke... I was laughing for hours after she told me that. :)
anyways. Good work guys, and until next year...

Library Adventure

Went to the State Library archives? Damn skippy, we did!

On the day of the great storm, while we were still all quite unaware that we were all about to die, the photography students took a trip to the lovely State Library of WA for the WA Press Photography Awards exhibition.
Trouble started brewing when Teesh and Hayley arrived, and as we spent about five minutes looking at pictures and then another few hours sitting around doing nothing, we were finally allowed to go deep into the Department of Mystery.... ahem, I mean, the state archives.

I'm only pretending it was a scene out of Harry Potter because it was so boring in there. And I'm amused by the slightest of things, including Mike Wazowski in the scanning department.


Actually, the excursion was sort of like a blast from the Pixar-past. Nemo, Monsters Inc... I see a pattern happening.

Blogging for lack of a better thing to do because I am not in the mood for Alexandr Solzhenitsyn.

Just look at that... really, can you ever be in the mood for Solzhenitsyn? We have to write an essay about something. 'The resolution of a novel must satisfty the reader or the author has failed to write successfully - discuss with reference to One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich."

Or, alternatively, "Discuss how the author has constructed out of the novel One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich out of his own experience and the history of Soviet Russia. What was his purpose for writing?"

And now, I leave you to your misery, as I try to deal with my own. He's a literary genius, they say... well that may be the case, but he is also old and boring and writes strange symbolistic stories that make little or no sense until you read them the seventh time.

I'm sure life will improve soon.
